Mappy December! A few of my favorite things of 2022
For the final issue of the year, here are a few of my favorite things of 2022, in a handful of words and a heap of photos
Whiskers on kittens, warm woolen mittens, and the following:
Favorite Experiment
Favorite Trips
Favorite Money Moves
Favorite Books
Favorite Movies
Favorite Apps
Favorite New Furry Friends
Note: I will always tell you if I’m getting any referral bonuses and how much they are. There aren’t any in this letter
Favorite Experiment of 2022
With a bit of spit and chewing gum, I built MappyEverAfter.com and launched it on April Fool’s Day 2022. I’m learning as I go and having a ball :)
Favorite Trips of 2022
We just returned from 3 weeks at Best Friends, an amazing animal sanctuary that you can stay at. It houses over 1600 animals and offers free tours and volunteering shifts. More on this trip in the January Mappy Monday
A beautiful 9-day camping trip in September/October. Campfires, hikes, swimming in lakes and rivers, and beer for breakfast.
Favorite Money Moves
I wrote more about getting the $900 Chase Ink card bonus in November, and Wealthfront in August when the interest rate was just 2%. It has almost doubled since then! (update in July - it climbed to over 5% if you open your account with a referral link)
Favorite Reads and Films of the Year
Favorite Apps
These are actual screenshots from my accounts with these apps.
Tripit is a handy trip organizer. It pulls trip information from your linked email address (or you can forward it manually) so you don’t have to frantically search in your inbox when you need the info. It also gives you yearly and lifetime stats so you can reminisce about the trips you’ve taken and see the miles you’ve traveled and the number of countries and cities you’ve visited.
We’ve used Trusted Housesitters to connect with people that need someone to look after their home and pets while they’re away. There’s a yearly fee but the actual sits are free for both parties. The owner gets a free sitter, and the sitter gets free accommodation and the company of some furry playmates.
Substack is an email newsletter platform that I use to make and send letters like this one. It’s free to use and if you decide to monetize your newsletters, Substack keeps 10% of the proceeds.
I use Libby to download ebooks and audiobooks for free. It’s linked to my local library and has a huge catalog of both fiction and non-fiction titles.
Favorite New Furry Friends
I met the top four doggies during a housesit in Utah. They were funny, cuddly, and a dream to take care of. Lili is my niece’s new, very sweet, and slightly naughty doggie, and Ňuňu is my sister’s new, ultra-soft, and loving cat.
So there you have it, 2022 is almost over. My New Year’s resolution will be, as always, to eat more cake. This way whether I do or I don’t, I won’t be disappointed.
Thank you for being here. Feel free to comment below, ask questions, and share your favorite things. You may also reach me by email at hello@mappyeverafter.com.
Wishing you a lovely start to 2023, see you in January!
Be Mappy,
Mags
I like you furry friends.
